CareersWe hire as we need people for specific projects. That means we might hire a few people in one year and a year might go by when we don’t hire anyone. CultureEveryone knows everyone’s name. We know a bit about one another, some more than others. After all, some people enjoy being the life of the party, and others prefer to commune with their workstations, producing lots of elegant, bug-free code. Our employees come from very varied backgrounds. Electrical engineers, CompSci, AI, and more. They come from all over the world. Their ages vary widely. But they all have one thing in common: they’re very good at what they do. We have a lounge where you can play with the xBox. Or watch television. It’s a place to kick back and take a break while you think about a vexing algorithm that just isn’t working as it should. We’re around the corner from CityTV. There is no shortage of colourful characters on the streets, no shortage of cheap, very good restaurants. You’ll find all sorts of nightclubs and a pretty spiffy film theatre. BenefitsWe offer a full benefits package. It might not be as good as one offered by a huge, rich multinational. But it will keep you going if you break a tooth or need a prescription filled. We offer a group RRSP. More importantly, you start with 3 weeks of paid vacation (prorated for your first year). After you’ve been with the company for 5 years, you get 4 weeks of vacation. We also offer profit sharing. It’s based on the degree of effort you put into your work. If you get your work done but sit back and cruise through the year keeping up with Planet Lisp rather than improving our products, you’ll not get a bonus. But an eager developer who ends the year making a big contribution to the company is going to be one happy little fish. It’s both a reward for a job well done and an incentive to improve your skills and our products. We usually pay the bonus in February or March. There is no guarantee that you will get a bonus (it’s based on frogware’s profit pool). But it is something we have delivered for several years now, and we plan to keep doing it. For some reason, everyone likes it. And last, but not least: a kitchen fully stocked with snacks, soft drinks, and coffee, lots of coffee. Even tea. |
